Dear UFE members,

I am pleased to announce that the United Faculty of Evergreen and The Evergreen State College reached a tentative agreement on a new CBA in the evening of June 7, 2023. That means the current MOU will expire and the Academic Units are eliminated. You will find a digest of the tentative agreement linked below.

The UFE will hold a ratification forum for current members via Zoom on Wednesday, June 14, at 4:30 pm. Members are the ratifiers for UFE and the Board of Trustees are the ratifiers for the college.

The ratification vote will begin at the conclusion of the meeting and continue until Saturday, June 17, ending at noon. The vote is a yes or no vote on the new contract by UFE members. UFE leadership, including the bargaining team, coordinating committee, and stewards’ council, recommends a YES vote.

Highlights of the tentative agreement that we will discuss in more depth at the forum include:

  1. Duration- Two years, with 4% increase in salary beginning September 1, 2023, and 3% increase beginning September 1, 2024 for all faculty.
  2. New Article to continue and expand the faculty’s role in the Student Recruitment and Retention initiative.
  3. Release time for the Agenda Committee Chair.
  4. Recognition of existing academic structures.
  5. Increased protections for faculty members in case of program reduction and reduction in force.
